Spell Bound (ARC) by Kelley Armstrong

Spell Bound:
Savannah Levine is in terrible danger, and for once she’s powerless to help herself. At the conclusion of Waking the Witch, Savannah swore that she would give up her powers if it would help a young girl. Little did she know that someone would take her up on that promise.

And now, witch hunting assassins, necromancers, half-demons, and rogue witches all seem to be after her. The threat is not just for Savannah; every member of the Otherworld might be at risk. While most her fellow supernaturals are circling the wagons at a gathering of the council in Miami, Savannah is caught on the road, isolated from those who can protect her and unable to use her vast spell casting talent, the thing she counts on most. In a story that will change the shape of the Otherworld forever, Spell Bound gathers Elena, Clay, Paige, Lucas, Jamie, Hope, and others, who soon learn that the greatest threat to supernaturals just may come from within.

Kelley Armstrong has this incredible talent for completely immersing you in the Otherworld she has created. This book was fast paced, keeping me turning pages long into the night. Kelley's characters have depths to them that are intriguing and keep you coming back for more. Savannah is definitely a strong character, but she has a lot to learn yet, and in this book we begin to see changes in her usual way of thinking. The dance between Savannah and Adam's feelings for one another adds to the suspense throughout this book, and the "who-done-it" style of Spell Bound filled this story with danger and mystery. Many of Kelley's characters from the series make appearances throughout the book, and each has their own role to play as the Otherworld begins to change forever.

Savannah has lost her spell casting abilities, and she is thrown right back into danger without a way to protect herself as she and Adam find another case to solve. A case connected to the one they just finished involving a witch hunter, only now things become even more twisted and confusing as new players come to light. A group of supernaturals are threatening to expose themselves to the humans of the world and are on a quest for immortality, willing to use anyone to fulfill a so-called-prophesy involving a newer, stronger race of supernaturals. While wanting to protect those around her, Savannah forgets the danger to herself and is almost taken down by the witch hunters. Without Adam, she would be in even deeper trouble and when a disagreement separates them, Savannah must re-think how her behavior is affecting their relationship and those that surround her. As Savannah and members of the council continue to expose the rebel group's plans, they discover that a war is coming involving both demonic and angelic powers; and they have little information on how to prepare for the ensuing battle.
