The Lost Saint by Bree Despain

The Lost Saint:
A family destroyed. A love threatened. An enemy returns.

Grace Divine made the ultimate sacrifice to cure Daniel Kalbi. She was infected with the werewolf curse while trying to save him, and lost her beloved brother in the process.

Desperate to find Jude, Grace befriends Talbot, a newcomer to town. But as the two grow closer, Grace's relationship with Daniel is put in danger - in more ways than one.

Unaware of the dark path she is walking, Grace begins to give into the wolf inside of her - not realizing that an enemy has returned and a deadly trap is about to be sprung.

In Bree Despain's sequel to The Dark Divine, the action doesn't really pick up until the latter half of the book, but when it does it is definitely page turning. It was definitely the second half of this book that turned it around for me, and really got my emotions pumping. Unfortunately, I didn't find much of her unique werewolf lore explored a little more deeply, and I would have enjoyed that. I loved that Bree did go into the history of the pack Daniel once lived with under the curse of the wolf. The story begins with Daniel training Grace to be a Hound of Heaven, but the more she taps into her new superpowers, the more she begins to change. The Divine family has fallen apart since the disappearance of Grace's older brother, Jude, and her father constantly on missions to seek him out and bring him home. Grace begins to receive messages from Jude warning her of impending danger, and when her father finally returns with Gabriel, the beta of Daniel's old pack, she is told to stop training and stop searching out Jude. Angry and believing she is betrayed, Grace turns to her old best-friend, April. Their friendship is mended as they go searching in the underbelly of the city's club scene in hopes of finding Jude. Instead Grace finds Talbot, a werewolf who begins training her to use her wolf to destroy demons, or so she believes. While Grace is keeping her training from Daniel a secret, he also begins lying to her and this causes a rift between them. Grace's training is exposed when she accidentally hurts Daniel in her haste to be closer to him, and he finally reveals the truth of what has been happening to him. Danger surrounds the Divines as the world of the werewolves invades their everyday lives - the leader of the rogue werewolves and demons is exposed when Grace is betrayed by someone she believed she could trust. An unlikely ally fights to save Grace, and Daniel embraces his change in order to protect her from becoming lost to her wolf forever.
