Today Marjorie M. Liu has stopped by for a mini-interview and giveaway! She is the author of the incredible Dirk & Steele Paranormal Romance series, and the intense Hunter Kiss Urban Fantasy series, and she also writes comic books. You can read my review of Marjorie's two latest releases here and here. I have to say, if you have not tried this author yet, you are definitely missing out!
1. What are some must haves when you sit down to write?
Comfortable clothes, a comfortable chair, hot tea, and music! That, and plenty of uninterrupted time to just stare in space and daydream.
2. In regards to your own characters, who is your favorite and why?
That's such a hard question. I love all my characters. I will say, though, that I have a special fondness for Maxine Kiss. I've certainly spent more time with her than any other character, and over the years she's evolved from being a tough, lonely, heartbroken woman...into someone who is still tough, but with a deeper understanding of her own courage and heart, and the power that love and friendship can have in her life.
There are so many worlds I'd love to visit. Narnia, for example, or Pern. I would love to visit to find myself in the world of the tunnels in Beauty and the Beast (yes, I know, that's a television show and not a book, but it captured my imagination). I would especially love, though, to become trapped in Mercedes Lackey's Valdemar, but only if I was to become a Herald with my own Companion! That particular universe is so rich with magic and honor, and I can't resist the idea of being bonded to a psychic horse!
Marjorie has generously offered a signed copy of In the Dark of Dreams! Giveaway is international and will run until April 22, 2011 12AM EST. Simply leave a comment and fill out the form below.
Oh, oh I got that one book, The Iron Hunt. Haven't read it yet but eventually I will. And she's really pretty, I want her hair!
ReplyDeleteAfter having read some of the lovely Ms. Liu's works in Marvel comics and hearing that she'd written novels, I had to check it out for myself. I've never been a fan of the particular genre, but after reading The Iron Hunt I couldn't get the book out of my mind. I know I'll be reading more of this gorgeous lady's talented works.
ReplyDeleteSounds like an awesome series.
