Overprotected by Jennifer Laurens
Overprotected:
Ashlyn: A lonely society princess living in New York City.
Daddy hired you to be my bodyguard.
Colin: Childhood enemy, now her protector.
Daddy thought I’d be safe. He thought I’d never fall in love. He thought he could keep me forever.
Charles: obsessed with keeping her safe, keeping her his, he hires the one person he knows she could never fall in love with: Colin.
Daddy was wrong.
Like every book I have read by Jennifer Laurens, once I opened this one, I couldn't put it down! Jennifer pulls on your emotions and brings you right into the pages. I really enjoyed the characters; initially Ashlyn comes off as a spoiled rich girl, but that quickly changes as we get to know her. Colin has a sweet, tenderness when it comes to Ashlyn and it makes him irresistible. The relationship between Ashlyn and her parents is strained due to their obsession with keeping her safe, but their methods don't allow her to experience anything a normal teen would. Her father's need to keep her protected borderlines on unhealthy and racks up the tension when Colin re-enters their lives. Ashlyn believes she will never forget the cruelty of Colin when they were children, but as they get to know each other again that quickly changes. Her family begins to fall apart and a man from her past is determined to see her 'free' of the life she lives. Soon Colin must make a choice between loving Ashlyn and protecting her.
