Wondrous Strange & Darklight by Lesley Livingston
Wondrous Strange:
Seventeen-year-old actress Kelley Winslow thinks that playing the role of the fairy queen Titania in a production of Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream could be her luck break--if she can pull it off. But when she meets the handsome Sonny Flannery, Kelley has to face the shocking truth that the wold of Faeries is all too real--and that she is an unwitting part of it. Sonny warns Kelley that she is no mere mortal, and that she is being hunted by powerful forces from the Faerie realm. Now, Kelley must come to terms with her heritage--and her growing feelings for Sonny--if she wants to save not only herself, but also the human world that she holds dear.
Darklight:
Much has changed since autumn when Kelley Winslow learned she was a Faerie princess, fell in love with Sonny Flannery, and saved the mortal realm from the ravages of the Wild Hunt. Now Kelley is stuck in New York City, rehearsing Romeo and Juliet and missing Sonny more with every stage kiss, while Sonny has been forced back to the Otherworld and into a deadly game of cat-and-mouse with the remaining Hunters, and Queen Mabh herself.
When a terrifying encounter sends Kelley tumbling into the Otherworld, her reunion with Sonny is joyful but destined to be cut short. An ancient, hidden magick is stirring and a dangerous new enemy is willing to risk everything to claim that power. Caught in a web of Faerie deception and shifting alliances, Kelley and Sonny must tread carefully, for each next step could topple a kingdom...or tear their love apart.
Wondrous Strange and Darklight by Lesley Livingston are the first two books in an exquisite new Faerie tale, about a girl named Kelley--the long lost daughter of Auberon, Winter King of the Fae. Kelley is just your average teenager living in New York City trying to work her way onto Broadway, until suddenly she's not. Heading home from Central Park one evening she is distracted by the desperate cry of a drowning horse, but little does she know that this is no average horse. After nearly drowning herself, she frees the frightened animal and sopping wet makes her way home, and without any warning there is a horse living in her bathtub! Sonny Flannery is a Janus Guard, protecting the fractured Samhain Gate to the Otherworld, hidden in Central Park. But when he meets Kelley by chance, his whole world changes as they discover who she is, and the mysterious four leaf clover talisman on her necklace that has kept her hidden all these years. As their feelings for one another grow, word begins to spread among the Fae that Kelley has been found, and someone is waking the Wild Hunt to make sure that she never accepts her heritage and takes her place among the Fae.
Six months have passed since Kelley and Sonny first met and Sonny was forced back to the Otherworld by Auberon. Things in Central Park have calmed down and seem to be returning back to normal. Missing Sonny, she spends time in the park in order to feel close to him--poor Kelley just doesn't learn. When she and another of the Janus Guard, Fennrys, are attacked by none other than the ancient Leprechaun that Puck stole Kelley's four leaf clover necklace from, they escape to the Otherworld, where her reunion with Sonny is tainted when she is summoned by Auberon. Kelley returns to the mortal realm and later discovers that Sonny, Auberon, Puck and Mabh (the Autumn Queen of the Fae) have as well, seeking shelter and a place to hide in the theater where Kelley works. A terrible battle ensues and Kelley and the others learn that Sonny is more than just a standard Changeling. And in order to protect him, she must use her acting skills and break both their hearts by leaving him.
I can't wait to read what happens to Kelley and her friends in the third book of the Wondrous Strange series!
