Kiss of Crimson by Lara Adrian

Kiss of Crimson:
He comes to her more dead than alive, a towering black-clad stranger riddled with bullets and rapidly losing blood. As she struggles to save him, veterinarian Tess Culver is unaware that the man calling himself Dante is no man at all, but one of the Breed, vampire warriors engaged in a desperate battle. In a single erotically charged moment Tess is plunged into his world—a shifting, shadowed place where bands of Rogue vampires stalk the night, cutting a swath of terror.

Haunted by visions of a dark future, Dante lives and fights like there is no tomorrow. Tess is a complication he does not need—but now, with his brethren under attack, he must shield Tess from a growing threat that includes Dante himself. For with one reckless, irresistible kiss, she has become an inextricable part of his underworld realm…and his touch awakens her to hidden gifts, desires, and hungers she never knew she possessed. Bonded by blood, Dante and Tess must work together to thwart deadly enemies, even as they discover a passion that transcends the boundaries of life itself…

This is the second book in Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed series, and I am truly enjoying the society of vampires she has created. The characters are interesting and pulled me right into the story. There is danger, alpha males, romance and hot lovemaking sessions throughout.

All her life Tess has hated the psychic curse she was born with. She is ashamed of her past and constantly running from life, and that includes the handsome stranger who enters her life unexpectedly. Quickly Tess' quiet life is turned upside down as Dante accidentally drags her into his dangerous world when he feeds from her in a moment of desperation. Unbeknownst to either of them, Tess is a breedmate and now she has been mated to Dante. Trying to keep her safe , but afraid to explain his true nature to Tess becomes even more difficult when Dante discovers her ex-boyfriend is involved with selling a dangerous drug that turns regular vampires into Rogues; thoughtless and violent they feed without thought for their victims and kill indiscriminately. With Dante's help Tess learns that her curse is truly a gift*, when she uses it to save Dante from the brink of death, and she reconciles events of her past so that she can live happily for the future, without the guilt that has weighed her down for the last decade.
