Heart of the Highland Wolf Blog Tour & Giveaway with Terry Spear

Loving a Wolf in a Kilt

Have you ever considered loving a Highlander? Living in a Highland castle? Watching him and his brothers reenact sword fights? Being an actress in a movie?
Well, Julia Wildthorn might WRITE about such things in her romance werewolf novels, but even she had never considered that Ian MacNeill and his hunky brothers or other clansmen might be all wolf.
Yep, gray werewolves, in fact.
Not that she doesn’t know something about the wolfish kind. She’s an American red werewolf herself. And has Scottish roots. But still, she’d never really thought that the castle where the film would take place would be werewolf run, pack run, and that the laird would be interested in her, when here she was trying to be secretive.
She knew that a werewolf pack leader would not appreciate that she was using him as a model for her own hunky hero in her new breakout novel that would finally get rid of her pesky writer’s block. Lots of male werewolves didn’t like it that she was writing about werewolves when she was one of them, figuring she might give away too much of the truth about their kind.
But when Ian’s cousin is delighted that the “great writer” is staying with them, she wants all her copies of Julia’s books autographed. And then Ian’s brothers are taking off with the books, devouring all the “good” passages.
So, what’s a pack leader to do? Live with the idea that Julia wants to cast him in the hero’s role in her next release?
But of course, that’s not the only issue in the story. Castles have to have ghosts, secrets, and Highlanders have long time feuds, particularly since these Highlanders lived a long time ago and lived through the many battles with other clans in the past. So it’s not just a historical reference point with them.
And when things don’t go well between Julia and Ian, what does she do? Writes her Highland hero right out of the story. Well, kind of. She can’t quit thinking of the hunky Scot as her hero.
You’ve heard tell that the pen is mightier than the sword, right? Well, it’s true! Get on the bad side of a writer, and you might get a whole new role in her book!
Excerpt from HEART OF THE HIGHLAND WOLF by Terry Spear:
No way could she make them heroes in her book. She let out her breath hard and began to pen her story.

Spurs clanking, sidearm holstered, Ian MacNeill grabbed hold of the mulish horse’s reins and looked up at the woman who rode the animal and was just as stubborn as the blasted horse. “Here in Texas, ma’am, we don’t cotton to horse thieves, so why don’t you just come on down from there, and we’ll have us a little talk before you get yourself into any further trouble.”

Another two hours passed as Julia wrote ten more pages of her new adventure—a cowboy story set in Texas that featured a transplanted Scotsman. Lots of them had ended up in Texas, so it wouldn’t be a far stretch. Only he’d wear chaps instead of a kilt. She sighed. She really did like the idea of kilts. But leather chaps, now they also had appeal. She’d change his name later, but she gleaned some satisfaction from turning Laird MacNeill into a cowboy.

See? What did I tell you! But you’ll have to read the story to find out just why Julia was so mad at the Highlanders to warrant casting Ian as a cowboy in Texas!
But, hey, what do you think? Would he make a pretty interesting character as a cowboy werewolf???
I have to mention that I’m really, really excited that Ian MacNeill finaled as one of the hottest heroes for this summer 2011 with All Romance eBooks. Voting for the heroes begins July 1st, and voters have a chance at winning $25 from All Romance eBooks for each round of voting.
So if you have a chance to vote, please vote for Ian!
And Seduced by the Wolf ranked as #1 Best Romance Seller at Books on Board last week, ahead of some really big names, so I was THRILLED to say the least!
