Bad Taste in Boys by Carrie Harris

Bad Taste in Boys:
Someone's been a very bad zombie.

Kate Grable is horrified to find out that the football coach has given the team steroids. Worse yet, the steroids are having an unexpected effect, turning hot gridiron hunks into mindless flesh-eating zombies. No one is safe--not her cute crush Aaron, not her dorky brother, Jonah . . . not even Kate! She's got to find an antidote--before her entire high school ends up eating each other. So Kate, her best girlfriend, Rocky, and Aaron stage a frantic battle to save their town . . . and stay hormonally human.

I adored Bad Taste in Boys by Carrie Harris: from its slightly slow beginning to its faster paced ending, it was a short but action-packed book. The premise of the story was unique and the perfect setting to send chills running down your spine. Kate is just one of those nerdy characters that you can’t help loving, and the romance between her and Aaron was endearingly sweet. It was wonderful to see that Kate didn’t need the support or constant attention of a guy in order to function; she was an incredibly intelligent and strong individual. Carrie’s zombified football players were funny and creepy at the same time; at times she made them come right off the pages for me. The secondary characters were well rounded and played an integral part in supporting the storyline.  Carrie created an intense and completely believable world, where the next time you pass a football player in the hall, it could be your last!
