Bianca will risk everything to be with Lucas.
After escaping from Evernight Academy, the vampire boarding school where they met, Bianca and Lucas take refuge with Black Cross, a fanatical group of vampire hunters. Bianca must hide her supernatural heritage or risk certain death at its hands. But when Black Cross captures her friend—the vampire Balthazar—hiding is no longer an option. Soon Bianca and Lucas are on the run again, pursued not only by Black Cross, but by the powerful leaders of Evernight. Yet no matter how far they travel, Bianca can't escape her destiny. Bianca has always believed their love could survive anything... but can it survive what's to come?
Hourglass is the third book in the Evernight series by Claudia Gray, and I think it just may be my favorite (of course, there is still the final book: Afterlife). Fast-paced and action-packed, it was filled with nail-biting danger, tension and romance. I became emotionally attached to Bianca and Lucas, and for the first time in the series Claudia made me cry. With so many twists and turns I was kept at the edge of my seat and up reading long into the night. With an ending that left me stunned and overwhelmed with a desire for more, this series just keeps getting better.
Bianca and Lucas are cornered into living with the Black Cross, and even though they plan on escaping they must bide their time while hiding Bianca’s secret. When Bianca and Lucas are betrayed and forced to leave the protection of the Black Cross, they turn to old friends in order to survive. While in hiding their relationship is taken to the next level, and shortly after something strange begins to happen to Bianca. She slowly starts to lose her hunger for human food as well as blood. In desperation, Lucas contacts everyone he thinks might be able to help, even if that means putting them in danger of being captured. Grief and loss over come Lucas, clouding his judgement and following Balthazar into a dangerous situation will change his life forever.
