No Mercy by Sherrilyn Kenyon

No Mercy:
Live fast, fight hard and if you have to die then take as many of your enemies with you as you can. That is the Amazon credo and it was one Samia lived and died by. Now in contemporary New Orleans, the immortal Amazon warrior is about to learn that there’s a worse evil coming to slaughter mankind than she’s ever faced before.

Shapeshifter Dev Peltier has stood guard at the front of Sanctuary for almost two hundred years and in that time, he’s seen it all. Or so he thought. Now their enemies have discovered a new source of power- one that makes a mockery of anything faced to date.

The war is on and Dev and Sam are guarding ground zero. But in order to win, they will have to break the most cardinal of all rules and pray it doesn’t unravel the universe as we know it.

For a little while there I had forgotten just how much I loved the Dark-Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon, but after reading Dev’s story I don’t know why I put off reading this book for so long. Each new instillation adds to the series as a whole, and I couldn’t wait to read Dev’s book. Tension, danger and animal attraction made this book a page-turner. I loved meeting some new characters, and Samia and Dev were the perfect match. Samia was the perfect blend of female warrior and compassionate woman; her power of psychometry has kept her from even the simplest touch, so she lives her life separated from those around her. Until the night she meets Deveraux, when she touches him she is not assaulted by pain and memories. Unprepared, yet unable to resist Samia, Dev goes willingly into battle at her side as enemies of the past have new powers that could harm the Dark-Hunters when they are the most vulnerable.
