Scent of Darkness:
A thousand years ago, Konstantine Varinski roamed the Russian steppes. Driven by his craving for power, he struck a terrible bargain. In return for the ability to change from a magnificent warrior to a predator that could hunt down his enemies and kill them, he promised his soul — and the souls of his descedents — to the devil.
Plain Ann Smith loves her handsome, dynamic boss, Jasha Wilde, but her daring plan to seduce him goes awry when she finds a black wolf warming itself before the fire. Before her horrified eyes, the wolf changes into the man she adores. She flees, he pursues, but they can't escape their destinies.
For Jasha is the descendant of Konstantine Varinski and Ann is the woman fated to break the curse that binds his soul. To find heaven in each other's arms, they have the devil to pay.
I loved this world that Christina Dodd created and with this being only the first in the series, I’m excited to read more. This book was an action packed page turner and filled with mystery. The pace moved quickly and flowed smoothly. From the very beginning there was an intense heat between Ann and Jasha, even though they didn’t entirely trust each other, their bodies could not fight their attraction. Ann is still keeping a secret about her past even after she discovers Jasha is not quite human and knows his biggest secret. She is thrown into a world she never could have imagined, where men are part beast, and she has been chosen to be a savior of the Wilder family. Chased into the wilderness, Ann trusts Jasha to provide for her and keep her safe as members of the Varinski family (cousins to the Wilders) hunt them down in revenge for the death of their father, Oleg Varinski. Danger surrounds them as they struggle to reach safety, and Ann who believed she would never be loved, has trouble believing that Jasha’s feelings are genuine and not just mixed up in his need to keep her safe.
I've seen this book in our book sale before. I didn't purchase it coz I already have 5 books with me that time, so, adding another one would go way over my budget. Maybe I'll try to look if Scent of Darkness is still available.
