The Night She Disappeared by April Henry

The Night She Disappeared:
Gabie drives a Mini Cooper. She also works part time as a delivery girl at Pete’s Pizza. One night, Kayla—another delivery girl—goes missing. To her horror, Gabie learns that the supposed kidnapper had asked if the girl in the Mini Cooper was working that night. Gabie can’t move beyond the fact that Kayla’s fate was really meant for her, and she becomes obsessed with finding Kayla. She teams up with Drew, who also works at Pete’s. Together, they set out to prove that Kayla isn’t dead—and to find her before she is.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish. It was fast paced, and was told through multiple point-of-views by incredible mystery writer: April Henry. I felt as if minutes, instead of hours, had passed once I finished the book. As difficult as it was to read, I liked that April was unafraid to delve into the darker side of this story, by giving an insightful perspective into the twisted mind of the kidnapper. This novel is so much more than just a mystery, it's a thriller and that can be a rare find in the young adult genre. April pulled me right into her world within the very first pages--written from the point of view of a secondary character, Drew. Throughout the book I found my heart racing alongside those of the characters. Tension and danger surround the characters making The Night She Disappeared a definite page-turner. My emotions were up and down as Gabie works with Drew to discover why anyone would want to harm her, and is there still the chance of her becoming a victim as well?
