Texas Gothic by Rosemary Clement-Moore

Texas Gothic:
Amy Goodnight's family is far from normal. She comes from a line of witches, but tries her best to stay far outside the family business. Her summer gig? Ranch-sitting for her aunt with her wacky but beautiful sister. Only the Goodnight Ranch is even less normal than it normally is. Bodies are being discovered, a ghost is on the prowl, and everywhere she turns, the hot neighbor cowboy is in her face.

This book gave me the heebie-jeebie shivers. Rosemary Clement-Moore is a gifted writer for creating ominous, spine-chilling scenes that keep you turning pages with your heart-pumping-inside-your-chest intensity. I spent half of this book with goose-bumps on my arms and the other half drooling over the hot cowboy, Ben. The story was fast paced and was twisted in so many ways that it kept me guessing until the very end. Rosemary's characters were loveable and well-rounded, I felt I really got to know them, even the minor ones. There was a great theme of self-discovery inlaid within the story that I really enjoyed as well. The blending of magic and the mundane was done perfectly, the romance was sweet and the mystery gave the book a fun Nancy Drew feel. This is definitely a book to curl up with on a stormy night when all the lights are on low.
