Thursday Thirteen is a weekly meme with a simple theme: each Thursday you blog a list of 13 things. What kind of things? Any kind! Just come up with a list theme and run with it.
*All of my lists are in no particular order.*

Reasons Why I Read
1. Escaping the real world
2. Men/boys are better in books
3. The romance
4. The mystery
5. The suspense
6. The emotional rollercoaster
7. Armchair traveling
8. It’s relaxing
9. Because I love a good HEA
10. Sexy covers like this:
11. Or this:
12. Quotes like this:
"If I love you more than you love me, I'm as good as dead. Yet I can't make myself take it back. I can't just walk away from you, because every time you pass by me without smiling, without touching my hand, or at least making eye contact, it feels like I'm dying inside. And I'm pretty sure that hurts worse than whatever Marc would do to me. Whatever your dad would do.
"Hell, Faythe, I'm pretty sure that never touching you again would hurt worse than the nastiest death Calvin could think up for me."
– Shift by Rachel Vincent
13. And this:
“Wow, huh?” His voice was low, husky. His chair creaked as he stood. His footsteps seemed strangely loud as he closed the couple of yards between them. Then he was beside her. “I can work with wow.”
She turned away, quickly, squeezing the bottle and squirting honey on the counter. “I didn’t mean anything. Too much flirting lately, and that call, and…I know you probably have a dozen girls waiting. I’m just tired and…”
“Hey.” His hand was on her shoulder, trying to turn her to face him. “There’s no one else. Just you. No one for the last seven months.”
He tugged gently on her shoulder again. “There’s no one but you in my life.”

ReplyDeleteI'm here via T13 and I'll definitely be back... I'm gonna have to write my reasons why I read for T13 next week.
My T13 is books I plan to read soon http://writerinawheelchair.co.uk/2014/01/a-bookish-thursday-thirteen-thirteen-books-i-plan-to-read-soon-ish/
Everyone I think can agree with #1 :) Great list!
ReplyDeleteI adore all of your reasons, and especially the books you drew snippets from. They are a couple of my favorites. #1 and #8 tend to be my top reasons for reading. That and, well, it's like breathing. I must!
ReplyDeleteFound you through the T13 site, and really glad I did! Mine are the writing books I plan on reading this year. :)
