Shift by Jeri Smith-Ready {Mini Review}

Shift:
In the second book of the Shade trilogy from Jeri Smith-Ready, Aura is torn between the two boys who hold her heart—and determined to unravel the secrets of the Shift.

Aura’s life is anything but easy. Her boyfriend, Logan, died, and his slides between ghost and shade have left her reeling. Aura knows he needs her now more than ever. She loves Logan, but she can’t deny her connection with the totally supportive, totally gorgeous Zachary. And she’s not sure that she wants to.

Logan and Zachary will fight to be the one at her side, but Aura needs them both to uncover the mystery of her past—the mystery of the Shift. She’s not the only one seeking answers, though, and danger grows as she discovers new truths.

Who can Aura trust with her secrets? And to whom will she give her heart?

The world that Jeri Smith-Ready created for the Shade trilogy is one that any reader could effortlessly delve into. The very idea that ghosts can be seen to everyone born after a certain date is so realistic and captivating, that I could easily picture myself within these pages. Jeri has an incredibly vivid imagination and it truly shows with her storytelling. There were huge amounts of mystery and discovery throughout this book, some things like Aura’s father finally being revealed, while the origins of the Shift still largely remains an enigma. There were also twists and turns that I never saw coming, I was kept on the edge-of-my-seat from start to finish. This book was also a game changer when it comes to relationships, Aura is ready to say goodbye to Logan and begin exploring her feelings for Zachary, while Megan and Mikey are pulling farther apart. The tension between Aura and Zachary had my heart thumping in my chest and at other times come to a dead stop. And just when it seems that they are officially a couple, something else happens to pull them apart.
