Month In Review: January

Books I read and my rating:
(For reviews, please go to "Books Read in 2013")

1. The Near Witch by Victoria Schwab 5
A great way to start off the New Year! The characters were amazing as well as the storytelling. A fairy tale of the Grimm variety and with a touch of romance that made my heart melt.

2. Grace Doll by Jennifer Laurens 3
This book disappointed me because I didn’t form an emotional attachment to the story like I have with Jennifer’s previous works. The premise was interesting, but I just couldn’t connect with it.

3. September Morning by Diana Palmer 2
This was terrible. The male protagonist was rough and demanding as he gave the innocent heroine her first real kiss and he basically said: “It’s your fault, you asked for it.”

4. The Vampire Stalker by Allison Van Diepen 3
While I loved the idea of fictional characters coming to life, I felt the characters barely connected and that the romance was stifled. Considering the hero changed his entire life for the girl, they barely spent any time together.

5. Don’t Cry For Me by Sharon Sala 4
I love how this author can pull almost every emotion into her stories and make you feel them too. She also taught me a lot about PTSD and the power of compassion and understanding.

6. Personal Demons by Lisa Desrochers 5
I loved this story. I hated this story. It definitely deserved my rating, but the main character seemed to play tug-of-war with the emotions of two different guys, and that is what bothered me. This author took love triangles to new heights.

7. Just Listen by Sarah Dessen 5
This book was an emotional roller coaster, and I loved every minute of it.

8. Bloody Valentine by Melissa de la Cruz 4
Three short stories that gave me a greater inside perspective of Oliver, Allegra and Jack.

9. Maggie’s Dad by Diana Palmer 3
I really need to quit this author. But I find it next to impossible.

10. Trial by Fire by Jennifer Lynn Barnes 4
There was a lot going on in this book and while I was blown away by the first of the trilogy, this one was slower and a little frustrating at times.

11. Taken by Storm by Jennifer Lynn Barnes 5
While I DID NOT like what the author did to Bryn’s pack, it was an amazing and thrilling conclusion to this trilogy. But I do hope that there will be more in the future.

12. Rivals and Retribution by Shannon Delany 2
A very disappointing end to this series, I think five books were just too much because after the first three my love and interest began to diminish and I still have unanswered questions.

13. Hunted by Cheryl Rainfield 5
This was a unique tale about discrimination and bullying with a paranormal twist that kept me reading long into the night.
