I honestly didn’t think that Fracture by Megan Miranda needed a sequel (or companion book), but by the end of this one I felt differently. Vengeance gives its readers a little more closure than was given in the first book, and is told through Decker’s point-of-view instead of Delaney’s this time. This book was a psychological thriller with a touch of romance that kept me engrossed from beginning to end. What really pushed this story along were the relationships between all the characters, and most importantly the friendship between Decker and Delaney.

Vengeance begins shortly after Fracture left off and it seems that the sinister curse is back, haunting the group of friends all over again. Friendships are tested to their very limit as the group struggles to find their way back to some type of normalcy after the death of one of their own. When Decker loses his father suddenly he blames Delaney for not telling him the truth (her ability to sense the sick or dying came after her accident in Fracture). Only turning away from Delaney is nearly impossible, and in the end he realizes that his anger is not about her. When Decker and Delaney’s houses are vandalized they believe the curse of Falcon Lake is going to finish the job for good and drag them down into its depths. But something seems to be targeting Delaney alone, but is it the lake calling to her…or is it a more human vendetta?

This is definitely a series for readers who enjoy dark, thrilling storytelling and emotional heartache.
