ALPHA

I know I'm a little late in posting the new ALPHA cover, but I just had to add it to my own blog because it is so AMAZING!

"Alpha is the sixth and final Shifters book. The culmination of everything Faythe and I have been working for in the Shifters universe. All the plot lines will be tied up. All the decisions will be made. No one will remain unchanged. Not everyone will survive. It's gonna be one hell of a ride." Rachel Vincent.

I can't wait to get my hands on this book! Alas...I have to wait until October 2010! Crazy...I'm going to go crazy waiting to see what happens with Faythe and the rest of the Pride!

Full cover is posted over on The Pride.

Broken by Shiloh Walker Available March 2, 2010

Broken:
Shattered

Quinn Rafferty is working as a bounty hunter and bail bondsman in St. Louis when a new neighbor catches his eye. He’s tempted by her beauty—but he knows from experience that anyone desperate enough to live in his building is damaged goods. Besides, he has his own soul to mend before he can worry about anyone else.

Desperate

Sara Davis is on the run, but not for the usual reasons a woman goes on the lam. She’s not an abused wife, and she’s not a criminal. But she does have a plan for her future. And as much as she finds herself attracted to her gruff, tough neighbor, she can’t risk telling him the secrets she’s hiding. There’s just too much at stake.

Driven to desire…

But Quinn must get closer to Sara when she turns out to be the target of his new missing persons case, and he discovers that there is something more complex and dangerous to her than he thought. Now, both Quinn and Sara will have to expose their true feelings—as well as their fragile hearts—if they hope their love will survive…

EXCERPT:

He opened the door—

And stopped dead in his tracks as somebody all but fell into his arms. Somebody…a woman. And not Theresa.

He caught her just above her elbows, automatically steadying her.

“I’m sorry,” she said, her voice soft and low.

Then she lifted her face and Quinn found himself gazing into the biggest, brownest eyes he’d ever seen in his life. Feeling a little dazed, he studied her face while she stammered out another apology.

Quinn barely heard it.

He was too busy staring at her mouth. A very pretty mouth, a cupid’s bow mouth slicked with deep, vibrant red. Under his hands, he could feel silken smooth skin and unable to resist, he stroked a thumb along her inner arm.

Her skin was soft, soft and warm. He was also pretty sure she had the creamiest, most flawless skin imaginable. Her shoulder-length hair was a shade caught between blonde and brown, nondescript, but for some reason, he found himself thinking about tangling his fingers in that hair and holding her head still while he kissed that red-slicked mouth.

Well, hello…

Shift by Rachel Vincent

SHIFT:
Being the first female werecat enforcer isn't easy. Scars accumulate, but I'm stronger in so many ways.

As for my personal life? It's complicated. Choices worth making always are. Ever since my brother's death and my father's impeachment, it's all I can do to prevent more blood from spilling. Now our Pride is under attack by a flight of vicious thunderbirds. And making peace with our new enemies may be the only way to get the best of our old foe.

With the body count rising and treachery everywhere, my instincts tell me to look before I leap. But sometimes a leap of faith is the only real option...

Just like anything else Rachel Vincent has written, she has NOT disappointed her fans with her newest release of the Shifters series, SHIFT. Faythe is a strong heroine even when she believes herself to be weak. What makes her the perfect heroine, is the fact that she is not perfect and has made many mistakes, some good, some bad, but each enabling her to learn and grow into the potential Alpha just waiting to be brought forth from within her. No matter what gets thrown at this werecat, she bounces back to her feet and comes up swinging. Two of her many strengths are her compassion and strong belief in justice. As the Thunderbirds begin to attack the Pride over their fallen member of their Flight, they see justice in their actions as they tear the Pride apart and it is Faythe that points out the difference between justice and vengeance, "Justice is for the victim, vengeance is for the survivor." It's up to Faythe to gather the information that the Pride has been wrongly accused and will stop the attack and save the Pride. While she struggles with the ramifications from certain events that happened in PREY and the task of saving those she loves, we are taken on a whirlwind adventure, immersed deep within Rachel's vivid imagination, from the very first page of the book until the very last the action starts from the beginning and doesn't end until the book is finished. I cannot wait to see what she has in store for our heroine in the conclusion to the series, ALPHA, out October 2010.

Gena Showalter's Lords of the Underworld

The Darkest Night:
All her life, Ashlyn Darrow has been tormented by voices from the past. To end the nightmare, she has come to Budapest seeking help from men rumored to have supernatural abilities, not knowing she'll be swept into the arms of Maddox, their most dangerous member -- a man trapped in a hell of his own.
Neither can resist the instant hunger than calms their torments . . . and ignites an irresistible passion. But every heated touch and burning kiss will edge them closer to destruction -- and a soul-shattering test of love . . .

"I never liked how one curious female was blamed for the world’s misery. So I decided to rewrite the myth and blame men." Gena Showalter.

The Lords are immortal warriors who stole and opened Pandora’s box, allowing the evil demons inside to escape. Now, as punishment, they house those demons within themselves. These dark and seductive men make it difficult to resist Gena's LOTU books, I simply can't get enough of them and in May 2010 we won't be disappointed with Into the Dark, a compilation of all of the e-books plus some Lords bonus material. Following that in June 2010 will be The Darkest Passion, Aeron's story. And as we simply cannot get enough of her books, Gena - the incredible and talented writer that she is has The Darkest Lie (Gideon's story) coming out in July 2010! Three books I know are going to be just incredible, my greedy hands are itching already to pull them off the shelf and bring them home with me!

The Maze Runner by James Dashner

The Maze Runner:
When Thomas wakes up in the lift, the only thing he can remember is his first name. He has no recollection of his parents, his home, or how he got where he is. His memory is black. But he’s not alone. When the lift’s doors open, Thomas finds himself surrounded by kids who welcome him to the Glade, a large expanse enclosed by stone walls.
Just like Thomas, the Gladers don’t know why or how they got to the Glade. All they know is that every morning, for as long as they could remember, the stone doors to the maze that surrounds them have opened. Every night, they’ve closed tight. Every thirty days a new boy is delivered in the lift. And no one wants to be stuck in the maze after dark.
The Gladers were expecting Thomas’s arrival. But the next day, a girl springs up—the first girl ever to arrive in the Glade. And more surprising yet is the message she delivers. The Gladers have always been convinced that if they can solve the maze that surrounds the Glade, they might be able to find their way home . . . wherever that may be. But it’s looking more and more as if the maze is unsolvable.
And something about the girl’s arrival is starting to make Thomas feel different. Something is telling him that he just might have some answers—if he can only find a way to retrieve the dark secrets locked within his own mind.

James Dashner adds a great story to the world of science fiction and the book is easy to visualize with James' descriptive narration. Every day they run the maze in hopes of gaining their freedom and when they finally discover the code that will lead them to it, they discover that something truly horrible has happened to our planet...and are they truly free? I could hardly turn the pages quickly enough to find out what was going to happen next as the book pulled me in with gripping intensity. The Maze Runner is full of adventure and mystery, I'm waiting to see what adventures the Gladers are taken on and what answers we might be given in The Scorch Trials.

Some Girls Are by Courtney Summers

Some Girls Are:
Climbing to the top of the social ladder is hard–falling from it is even harder. Regina Afton used to be a member of the Fearsome Fivesome, an all-girl clique both feared and revered by the students at Hallowell High… until vicious rumors about her and her best friend’s boyfriend start going around. Now Regina’s been “frozen out” and her ex-best friends are out for revenge. If Regina was guilty, it would be one thing, but the rumors are far from the terrifying truth and the bullying is getting more intense by the day. She takes solace in the company of Michael Hayden, a misfit with a tragic past who she herself used to bully. Friendship doesn’t come easily for these onetime enemies, and as Regina works hard to make amends for her past, she realizes Michael could be more than just a friend… if threats from the Fearsome Foursome don’t break them both first…

Courtney Summers, the author of Cracked Up To Be, has written a "mean girls" story to the extreme. I couldn't put the book down because I kept anticipating what these girls were going to do to Regina next, and I was always completely blown away by each horrific act. Yes, Regina was once a member of this horrible clique and yes, she participated in some pretty horrific acts against her fellow students, but there came a time when I just wanted to smack Anna upside the head and say "Grow up and get over yourself!" But that was great, and shows you just how involved with the story I was and how deeply it pulls you in! Regina was truly the injured party in leading to the events happening the book, and through her experiences she is able to grow as a person and learn from her mistakes.
